Add text to a PDF without rebuilding the original

This tool adds a new text layer on top of the page. It is a practical way to fill a non-interactive form or label a diagram without trying to alter the original author’s text.

How it works

1

Open the PDF and navigate to the page.

2

Place a text box and enter your text.

3

Adjust its position and styling, then export a copy.

Questions people ask

Can I edit the text already printed in the PDF?

Not directly. Reflowing text created by another PDF author can damage the layout. This tool places your new text on top instead.

Can I move a text box after typing?

Yes. Position the box on the page before exporting, and use the preview to check that it does not cover important content.

Will my added text be searchable?

Text is written into the exported PDF as text rather than as a screenshot, so standard PDF viewers can usually select and search it.

Does my PDF get uploaded?

No. The tool reads and edits the file in your browser. Exported files are downloaded directly to your device.

Should I keep the original file?

Yes. Exported files are new copies, but keeping the original lets you revisit a different edit or recover from a mistake.
